Women's ice hockey is a fast-paced, physical team sport with the same basic rules as the men's game: two teams of six skaters use sticks to shoot a puck into the opponent's net. However, it is distinguished by a key rule difference: body checking is illegal. This places a greater emphasis on skating speed, tactical positioning, puck control, and skillful playmaking rather than physical intimidation.
